President Harutyunyan was not informed about the arrest of Mikael Arzumanyan, the former Minister of Defense of the Republic of Artsakh, the former commander of the Defense Army, and the acting chief advisor to the President of the Republic of Artsakh, Lusine Avanesyan, the spokesperson of the President of Armenia informs.

“General Arzumanyan is considered by the President to be one of our best military commanders who has a glorious past. His efforts during the 2020 war are also undeniable. It is true that he took command of the army only 12 days before the end of the war, but he made great efforts to conduct military operations effectively.

We hope that the circumstances of the arrest will be clarified as soon as possible. The developments of the situation related to the arrest of General Arzumanyan are in the center of attention of President Harutyunyan,” Avanesyan said. 

Earlier, information was spread in the press that Mikael Arzumanyan, the acting chief adviser to the President of Armenia, was detained on the way from Artsakh to Yerevan, on the instructions of the investigators of the Military Department of the RA Investigative Committee.
