As a result of the strong explosion that took place in the “Surmalu” shopping center four days ago, on August 14, the search for the citizens who remained under the rubble continues.

90% of the rubble clearing works have been completed, deputy minister of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Davit Hambaryan informs.

“We are now exclusively focused on rescue operations. There is a section adjacent to the standing section where there are still ruins. It is likely that the wanted citizen is there. After doing the rest, we will record that the question of the building remains, which does not represent urgent emergency restoration work, and therefore, it will not be done only by the Ministry of Emergency Situations. It may also be done through the owners of the area. We think that we will be able to finish the works by the end of the day,” he said.
 
According to Davit Hambaryan, the biggest difficulty is the emergency condition of the building, because there are dangers in entering it.

“There are also large constructions hanging from the building, which should be separated so that we can try to understand the adjacent part through video surveillance, although this alone will not be enough,” he added.
