The Secretary of the Security Council received Toivo Klaar: The course of steps implemented within the mandate of the EU mission was discussed
On October 28, the Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan received Toivo Klaar, the EU’s special representative for the crisis in the South Caucasus and Georgia. The head of the EU delegation in Armenia, Ambassador Andrea Wiktorin was also present at the meeting, the RA Council of Ministers reports.
At the meeting, the parties discussed the progress of the steps implemented within the mandate of the EU monitoring capacity mission. The interlocutors also referred to the Armenian-Azerbaijani negotiation process.
Later, he Klaar met RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan. During the meeting, the interlocutors touched on the problems of regional security and stability and exchanged ideas on issues related to the development of the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Ararat Mirzoyan and Toivo Klaar emphasized the deployment of the EU civilian mission in Armenia and referred to the mission’s activities.
The parties also exchanged views on the unblocking of regional transport infrastructure, as well as the work of the border security and demarcation commissions.
Ararat Mirzoyan reaffirmed the need to eliminate the consequences of Azerbaijan’s recent aggression against the sovereign territory of Armenia, particularly the withdrawal of Azerbaijani armed forces from the sovereign territories of Armenia.
Baku claims that Yerevan has not yet responded to the elements of the peace agreement
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried discussed “the process of normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia and the prospects of peace efforts” during a telephone conversation today. The head of Azerbaijani diplomacy wrote about this on his Twitter page.
“Once again I reaffirmed my country’s commitment and full readiness to achieve peace and stability in our region,” Jeyhun Bayramov wrote.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Bayramov spoke with the American official about the situation in the region, the process of regulating Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, Baku’s position, and proposals.
“The minister noted that the Armenian side has not yet responded to the elements of the peace agreement, which were provided to Armenia after the results of the meeting of foreign ministers in Geneva,” the message says.
According to the Azerbaijani side, Donfried emphasized “the importance of promoting the agreements reached on the peace process during the meeting of leaders and ministers.”
Bayramov also said that Yerevan has not yet responded to the points of the peace agreement presented to the Armenian side at the meeting of the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Geneva on October 2, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated during a telephone conversation with US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried.
