The protest of relatives of fallen and missing servicemen continues in front of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
They gathered to find out what legal course Nikol Pashinyan’s speech will take. At the meeting with the participants of the protest, the adviser to the Prosecutor General Gor Abrahamyan noted that the petition for the involvement of Pashinyan as an accused was sent to the Anti-Corruption Committee.
A quarrel began between the participants of the protest. MP Gegham Nazaryan urged the participants to restrain their emotions: “If someone thinks that screaming and hitting will solve our problem, they are deeply mistaken.” One of the parents participating in the protest of relatives of fallen and missing servicemen, said that they are going to set up tents in front of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Aliyev expressed readiness to cooperate with Armenia and Georgia in a trilateral format
The President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said that Azerbaijan is ready to cooperate with Armenia and Georgia in a trilateral format for the development of the South Caucasus, TASS reports.
“Noting that both countries have a common view on the development of the South Caucasus, President Ilham Aliyev stressed that Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia have good opportunities for cooperation in a trilateral format, especially at the post-conflict stage. The President said that “the Azerbaijani side is ready for that,” the press service of the President of Azerbaijan reports. Aliyev also said that he hopes that “Armenia will also understand that this is the only way to establish stability and security in the region.”
Earlier Interfax.az reported that Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said that Baku is ready to start the process of delimitation of the border with Armenia.
At today’s briefing, Bayramov noted that at the meeting with his Georgian counterpart, he discussed regional processes, including the signing of a peace treaty with Armenia. “Baku is ready to start border delimitation with Armenia. During the telephone conversation with the Armenian colleague, the issue of the start of the work of the commission (joint commission on delimitation) was discussed,” Bayramov said. The Minister stressed that the priority direction is “the opening of transport communications in the region,” and “the settlement of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia will serve the interests of all countries of the South Caucasus.”
On April 27, the RA NA President Alen Simonyan received the representatives of the delegation carried out the OSCE/ODIHR Observation Mission.
Speaking about the aim of the visit, during the 2021 snap elections the Head of the OSCE/ODIHR Observation Eoghan Murphy has noted that they are in Armenia for presenting the final report prepared by the OSCE/ODIHR. At the meeting they talked about the importance of the parliamentary diplomacy in Armenia, also discussing the ways of power-opposition partnership and interaction in the parliaments of the democratic countries.
The RA NA President touched upon the legislative amendments on the period followed the June 20, 2021 elections and the issues relating to the current state of democracy in Armenia.
Referring to the security problems of the region, the RA NA President highly appreciated the role of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly as an important platform for strengthening the trust in the OSCE region, drawing the attention of the OSCE representative to the aggressive announcements by the representatives of Azerbaijan in the OSCE PA. He documented that it could be possible to reach peace in the region only through the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, which should include the specification of the Artsakh status on the basis of the execution of the right to its self-determination by the people of Artsakh.
The sides also spoke about the international standards of the electoral systems, in this context observing the achievements recorded by the nationwide elections in Armenia.
