On October 22, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan accepted the needs assessment mission of the OSCE, headed by the representative of Poland in the OSCE, Colonel Robert Arkadiusz Tkachik, RA MFA reports.
“Welcoming the members of the mission, Minister Mirzoyan emphasized that the OSCE needs assessment mission in Armenia, the necessity of which arose after Azerbaijan’s aggression against the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Armenia on September 13-14, fully corresponds to the organization’s mandate and goals.
The decision to send an OSCE needs assessment mission to the Republic of Armenia based on Armenia’s application was made by the OSCE current chairing country and the Secretariat, based on relevant decisions of the OSCE Ministerial Council, which were adopted with the agreement of all participating countries of the Organization.
The RA Foreign Minister expressed hope that the mission’s activities, observations and final report will be a source of objective information about the situation created after the Azerbaijani aggression for the OSCE Presidency, Secretariat and member states, as well as play a role in preventing new possible aggressions and establishing stable peace in the region.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian meets RA Prime Minister and NA Speaker
Today, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received the permanent rapporteur on Armenian issues in the European Parliament, Andrei Kovachev. This was reported by the Prime Minister’s Office’s Information and Public Relations Department.
The Prime Minister highly appreciated the activity of Mr. Kovachev and the cooperation with the European Parliament, which stems from the democratic reform agenda of the RA Government. Nikol Pashinyan emphasized the mediation efforts of the EU towards achieving peace in the region and the observation mission of the EU on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
The interlocutors exchanged thoughts on the course of democratic reforms, regional issues, the situation around Nagorno Karabakh, border demarcation between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and other issues. Nikol Pashinyan referred to the issue of Armenian prisoners of war, hostages, and other detained persons kept in Azerbaijan until now, expressed gratitude to the European Parliament for the resolutions adopted to ensure their return and emphasized the continuous efforts of the Council of Europe in this direction.
Within the framework of the meeting, reference was made to the report to be published by the European Parliament in the near future.
RA NA Speaker Alen Simonyan received the delegation led by Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian. Alen Simonyan, welcoming the guests, noted that he fondly remembers the fruitful meeting held in Tehran in June. This was reported by the RA NA staff.
He emphasized the importance of neighborly relations with friendly Iran, stressing that efforts aimed at their development are bearing fruit. “The opening of your main consulate in Kapan, the regional center of Syunik, is a fact. I congratulate all of us on that important event,” said Alen Simonyan, adding that Armenia will strive to open a consulate of our country in Tabriz in the near future.
The Iranian Foreign Minister thanked for the congratulation, stressing that the establishment of the Consulate General in Kapan contains an important message, according to which Iran opposes obstacles to the border or transit route with friendly Armenia and supports the development of the region. He also added that they are interested in opening the General Consulate of Armenia in Tabriz.
It was noted on both sides that the Consulate General of the Republic of Iran will contribute to the more effective realization of the potential in Syunik Marz in trade, economy, transport, energy and a number of other fields. The parties discussed issues related to security and lasting peace in the region.
One of the key issues discussed was the Armenian-Iranian strategic dialogue in all directions, as well as the prospect of increasing the trade turnover between the countries to 1 billion dollars. Iran’s foreign minister noted that one billion dollars can be reached in the first phase, and in the second, more promising phase, he considered it realistic to reach a turnover of 3 billion dollars.
At the end of the meeting, RA NA Speaker Alen Simonyan conveyed his greetings to Iranian Mejlis Speaker Mohammad Ghalibaf, noting that he is waiting for his colleague in Armenia.

Anna Hakobyan meets Brigitte Macron in Paris
Yesterday I was hosted at the Elysée Palace by my dear Brigitte Macron – Anna Hakobyan
RA Prime Minister’s wife Anna Hakobyan wrote on her Facebook page:
“Yesterday I was hosted at the Elysée Palace by my dear Brigitte Macron. I presented to Mrs. Macron how much Yerevan has changed since October 2018, when Mr. and Mrs. Macron enjoyed the warm hospitality of our city.
I said that one can only imagine how much Armenia would have developed during these four years if there was no conspiratorial war of 2020. In that case, Europe would already have a powerful, democratic, free and strong partner in our region in the form of Armenia.
But this is a difficult path that Armenia and the Armenian people have to go through steadfastly, and we are grateful to all friendly countries who will be by our side during that time.”
