Reinforcement works carried out to continue the search in the basement floor of Surmalu

Search operations are going on in the area of the “Surmalu” shopping center. On August 20, search and rescue operations are continuing in the “Surmalu” shopping center.
63 citizens applied to medical centers in Yerevan. 3 of them continue receiving treatment, and the rest received appropriate medical care and were discharged.

In the period between August 14-19, 1111 rescue workers from the territorial and structural units of the National Security Service participated in firefighting and search and rescue operations in the “Surmalu” shopping center.

The Minister of Emergency Situations Armen Pambukhchyan stated because of the danger of collapse, they have carried out reinforcement construction works to ensure the safety of the rescuers in order to continue the search in the basement.

On August 20 the team of the Armenian Red Cross Society, on the instructions of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, completed its mission in the territory of the “Surmalu” shopping center after about 150 hours of continuous work. The team of the Armenian Red Cross Society joined the work carried out by the Ministry of Emergency Situations on August 14, after the explosion in the “Surmalu” shopping center.

Armenian sportsmen win medals at the European Youth and U15 Championships, European Junior and Youth World Championships

Armenia’s youth and U15 weightlifting teams performed successfully at the European Championship held in Poland, winning 5 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze medal as a result of the two-night event.

On the penultimate day of the competition, 81 kg Emma Poghosyan won the title of European junior champion with a result of 206 kg. The 16-year-old sportswoman ripped the 91 kg barbell, winning a small silver medal, and pushed the 115 kg barbell, winning a small gold medal.

Hamest Afrikyan became the champion of the European Junior Championship in Turkey. The Armenian sportswoman had a very difficult fight with Serena Mali representing England. 

Vigen Nazaryan became the winner of the Greco-Roman wrestling World Youth Championship held in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria.

In the finals of the 87 kg weight class, the representative of Armenia wrestled with Iranian Abolfazi Ali Choubani and won 1:1 thanks to the last effective trick.

Armenian team member Erik Baghdasaryan became the champion at the European Youth Gymnastics Championship in Munich, Germany.

Artsakh confirms some areas under Azerbaijani control will go under Russian control |hetq.am|

As a result of the formation of the new Armenia-Artsakh corridor, some territories under Azerbaijani control will come under Russian control, because the new corridor will also be under the control of the Russian peacekeeping mission. The office of the Artsakh president confirmed that news in response to the inquiry of Hetq.am.

Answering the question of whether, with the 5-kilometer-wide corridor, which is defined in the trilateral statement of the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Russia on November 9, 2020, some areas under Azerbaijani control of the Kashatagh region will return and come under Russian control, the office of the Artsakh President answered:

“Of course. According to point 6 of the trilateral statement of November 2020, the Lachin Corridor (5 km wide), which will ensure the connection of Nagorno Karabakh with Armenia, remains under the control of the peacekeeping troops of the Russian Federation.” 

According to the Artsakh president’s office, the new Lachin corridor will pass through Kashatagh and Shushi regions.

The residents of Aghavno, Berdzor, and Nerkin Sus will benefit from the support programs used by citizens displaced after the war

The evacuation of the residents of Aghavno, Berdzor, and Nerkin Sus is carried out through partner organizations of the Artsakh Republic government, providing them with money so that they can move their things. 

The residents of Aghavno, Berdzor, and Nerkin Sus will benefit from all the support programs that the displaced residents benefit from as a result of the 44-day war.

One-time support of 250.000 AMD was given to displaced residents as compensation.
