A Security Council session held under the leadership of Nikol Pashinyan

Today a session of the RA Security Council was held under the leadership of PM Nikol Pashinyan, where a statement was made.

“The armed forces of Azerbaijan entered the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia in several directions.  Due to the persistent and heroic resistance of the Armed Forces of Armenia and the involvement of the international community, the attack on Azerbaijan was stopped, but the military-political situation remains tense.

Aggressive policies conducted by Azerbaijan are aimed at establishing peace in the region, opening regional communications, disturbing the efforts aimed at the comprehensive settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh problem, and imposing forceful solutions on the Republic of Armenia.  

Having adopted the agenda of establishing peace and opening regional communications, Armenia considers the policy of threat and coercion conducted by Azerbaijan unacceptable.

RA Security Council declares that the Republic of Armenia will defend its independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity by all available means.  Azerbaijani troops must withdraw from the occupied territories of Armenia,” RA PM Nikol Pashinyan stated.

Stickers with photos of tortured and dismembered bodies of Armenian servicemen and civilians were created in the Azerbaijani domain of “Telegram”.  We recorded 119 of them that had more than 20,000 downloads in 5 days, former Human Rights Defender of Armenia Arman Tatoyan reports.

“With the efforts of a specialist supporting us, Telegram banned it, but it is obvious that this new tool will be used to terrorize and mock the Armenian society.

This criminal act is another proof that the Armenian-hatred policy sponsored by the Azerbaijani authorities for decades is deeply rooted in the Azerbaijani society and the calls for peace by the Azerbaijani authorities are just a veil for the eyes of the international community, with which they hide their true intentions,” Tatoyan states.

RA Human Rights Defender asks Human rights watch to consider the possibility of conducting a fact-finding mission and submitting a special report

Sotk, Kut, Norabak communities suffered the most from the latest Azerbaijani attack, RA Human Rights Defender Kristine Grigoryan informed during the “Facebook press conference” of “Azatutyun.”  There are 7,600 displaced by recent hostilities.

“At the moment, our office has data on 16 servicemen who are kept as POWs, but this number can change very quickly.   Today I had a phone conversation with Human Rights Watch and based on the facts I presented, I asked them to consider the possibility of conducting a fact-finding mission and presenting a special report,” Kristine Grigoryan stated.

• Conscript soldier Davit Gishyan was killed in Azerbaijani captivity.  This was reported by Hasmik Samvelyan, press secretary of the RA representative office for international legal issues, noting that the ECHR was informed about this morning.
• NA Speaker Alen Simonyan accompanied Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the US Congress as she left Armenia.
• We must honestly admit that Armenian statehood is standing on the verge of a new and catastrophic war, which may lead to no less serious consequences than the 44-day war, and the prevention or management of that danger should take place with both security and political instruments, Artsakh President Arayik Harutyunyan stated today.
• The meeting of the co-chairs of the Armenian-Russian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, RA Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan and RF Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk took place.
