Borrell announced that the EU civilian observation mission team is already in Armenia
The team of the EU civilian observation mission formed to be deployed on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border is already in Armenia and will be deployed promptly, quoting the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.
“Our team is already in Armenia. The mission will be launched promptly”, he said.
President of the European Council Charles Michel also welcomed the mission and noted that it can strengthen the trust (between Armenia and Azerbaijan) and enable the EU to better support the border commissions that will soon meet in Brussels.

Azerbaijan attributes its own violations of the ceasefire regime to Armenia, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan wrote on Twitter.
“It is obvious that this is a pretext for new military aggression against Armenia. Permanent international mechanisms are necessary to maintain the ceasefire regime and ensure the security of the borders,” Pashinyan wrote.
Earlier he made another post, claiming that Armenia is waiting for a positive response from Azerbaijan regarding the opening of 3 checkpoints.
“A draft decision of the Armenian government on the opening of 3 checkpoints on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border to provide a connection between eastern Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan is being formally circulated for several months. The government of Armenia is waiting for a positive reaction from Azerbaijan,” he wrote.
It should be reminded that the National Security Service of Armenia has put into circulation a project that proposes to create checkpoints in some parts of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
