At the moment, search and rescue operations in the territory of the “Surmalu” shopping center have been stopped because of the terrain and the risk of collapse. RA MES Press Secretary Hayk Kostanyan mentioned that at the moment there is one missing person who is supposedly in the explosion zone. The identity of one more body is not yet certain. Kostanyan mentioned that it is in the stage of forensic examination. A sample was taken and the citizen’s identity will be known within 5 days. 

5 citizens continue to receive treatment in the medical centers of the capital, RA Ministry of Emergency Situations reports As a result of the explosion, 62 citizens were transferred to different medical centers in Yerevan. Most of them, having received appropriate medical care, were discharged. 

There are no people accused in the case of the Surmalu explosion

There are no accused in the case of the Surmalu explosion. If there were, the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Armenia would have announced it in its message last night, Gor Abrahamyan, adviser to the RA Prosecutor General reports. 
 
“Yesterday, Hraparak newspaper asked me about the case of the fire that happened in the Surmalu shopping center in 2021 and informed that there is an accused in that case. In other words, it refers to the presence of the accused in the criminal case initiated on the incident in 2021. I am asking the media outlets that are spreading this misinformation to remove it. This is not a case where publishing wrong information is tolerable,” Abrahamyan states.
