Azerbaijan’s attack on the Republic of Armenia
Spokesperson of the Ministry of Defense Aram Torosyan informs that since 20:00 the fire in all directions has almost stopped, no significant incidents have been recorded.
CSTO Press Secretary Vladimir Zaynetdinov informed that the first group of CSTO mission members will arrive in Armenia tomorrow. The group will be led by the head of the CSTO Joint Staff, Colonel General Anatoly Sidorov․ CSTO General Secretary Stanislav Zas will go to Armenia next week.
American Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group Philip Reeker met today in Baku with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. During the negotiations, the parties discussed the topic of clashes that started on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. The American diplomat noted that Washington is “in favor of a political and diplomatic solution to the existing differences and is ready to support the settlement process in every possible way.”
During the day, PM Nikol Pashinyan announced that another 10 square kilometers have been occupied from Armenia [on May 12 last year, they occupied 40 square kilometers]. Pashinyan said it’s a fact that the enemy has invaded the territory of Armenia and the RA Armed Forces are working to eliminate this.
“t. And the claim that there is no border between Armenia and Azerbaijan is not true. That border exists, and it has been violated by Azerbaijan, which carried out two-stage aggression,” Pashinyan said.
He noted that he has taken the responsibility of making difficult decisions for the sake of peace, but this does not mean that these decisions should contradict the state interests of the Republic of Armenia.
“We must go to them to guarantee the security of Armenia, lasting peace. We want to sign a paper, as a result of which many people will criticize us, curse us, call us traitors, the people may even decide to remove us from power, and we will be grateful if as a result of this, Armenia will get lasting peace and security with an area of 29.800 square kilometers. I will most likely sign the decision that will ensure this. I am not interested in what will happen to me, I am interested in what will happen to the Republic of Armenia,” Pashinyan stated.
