Putin maintains permanent contact with Pashinyan over Nagorno Karabakh

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he maintains permanent contact with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the Nagorno Karabakh issue.

“Naturally one of the most sensitive issues is the situation related to ensuring security around Nagorno Karabakh. We are talking about this during the entire time, we maintain permanent contact,” Putin said during a meeting with PM Pashinyan.

PM Nikol Pashinyan hopes the Armenian-Turkish relations will be regulated with the support of Russian

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed the Armenia-Turkey normalization process during the 7th Eastern Economic Forum.

“As you know, we’ve started dialogue with Turkey. We hope that we will normalize relations with Russia’s support,” Pashinyan said.

In his speech, he also spoke about the Armenian-Azerbaijani negotiations, particularly the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement process. “We are engaged in intensive contacts with Azerbaijan regarding the Nagorno Karabakh issue. In this context we again expect Russia’s support not only as Armenia’s strategic ally: Russia is a very close partner for Azerbaijan too, which is also creating opportunities. I’d like to also underscore Russia’s important role as a co-chairing country in the OSCE Minsk Group,” Pashinyan said.

In his speech at the plenary session of the 7th Eastern Economic Forum on “On the Road to a Multipolar World” in Vladivostok, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that the challenges that have existed in our region for a long time are intensifying, especially when Russia – the strategic partner of the international community and security issues, has focused it’s attention on other issues.

According to Pashinyan, in this case, it is largely focused on the situation around Ukraine, and there is a clear fear that this may bring instability to our region.

The Prime Minister of Armenia compared the created situation with 2020, stressing that when Azerbaijan started the war, the attention of the international community, including Russia, was completely focused on the problems of the coronavirus epidemic.
