In a conversation with Sergey Lavrov, Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the need for the early repatriation of Armenian POWs

On September 5, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, who was in Moscow on a working visit, met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

Issues related to the settlement of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations and the Nagorno Karabakh conflict were also discussed.

The importance of implementing the agreements reached in the tripartite statements of November 9, 2020, January 11, 2021, and November 26 was reaffirmed.

Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the efforts of the Russian side, including within the co-chairmanship of the OSCE Minsk Group, aimed at the lasting and comprehensive settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict․

The role of the Russian peacekeeping force in Nagorno Karabakh in strengthening the ceasefire regime in the conflict zone and preventing provocations, ensuring the safety and living conditions of the Armenian population of Nagorno Karabakh was highlighted.

Referring to the humanitarian problems caused by the 44-day war, Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the need for the early repatriation of Armenian prisoners of war and other detained people, as well as the need to preserve the Armenian historical and cultural heritage in the territories under the control of Azerbaijan.

Starmus VI festival of science and art kicked off today in the Sports and concert complex named after Karen Demirchyan. The official opening was announced with a press conference. The speakers of the press conference were famous scientists and Nobel Prize laureates, who spoke about the importance of the festival and their expectations.

Today, as part of the Starmus VI Festival of Science and Art, the SONIC UNIVERSE concert program was held, during which Queen guitarist Brian May, co-founder of the festival, poet, essayist, naturalist Diane Ackerman, primatologist and anthropologist Dame Jane Morris Goodall were awarded the Stephen Hawking Science Popularization Medal. They thanked the festival organizers for the awards.

During this international festival, the Stephen Hawking Science Popularization Medal is awarded for a major contribution to the presentation and dissemination of science and scientific discoveries in music, art, cinema, and other fields. The medal features a picture of Stephen Hawking, the author of which is Soviet cosmonaut Alexei Leonov.

This award ceremony has been organized within the framework of the Starmus festival since 2016, starting with the third Starmus festival. It was first received by German composer Hans Zimmer, physicist Jim Al Khalili, and an American documentary called “Particle Heat”.

Pashinyan, Putin to discuss Nagorno Karabakh settlement on sidelines of EEF

Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and President of Russia Vladimir Putin will discuss the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum, TASS reports citing Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov. 

“It’s planned to discuss the issue of the Nagorno Karabakh settlement. Russia continues its full assistance in normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan on the basis of trilateral agreements between the leaders. <… > Russian peacekeeping contingent is providing security in the region,” he said.

The sides will also discuss key aspects of Russian-Armenian relations, including prospects for building up trade and economic cooperation, he added. “Cooperation in the energy sector is developing. Gas supplies from Russia total more than 2.4 billion cubic meters per year (1.41 billion cubic meters in January-June of this year),” the aide said.

Eastern Economic Forum will be held in Vladivostok, Russia.

The armed forces of Azerbaijan have committed 112 crimes against the people of Artsakh

From the tripartite statement of November 9, 2020, to September 1, 2022, a total of 112 crimes were committed against the people of Artsakh by the armed forces of Azerbaijan, in connection with which 92 criminal proceedings were initiated, Artsakh Prosecutor’s Office reports.

18 people were killed (3 civilians), 126 people were attempted to be killed (48 civilians), and 65 people were shot and physically abused (14 civilians).

1 vehicle was stolen, 13 residential houses were directly targeted with different types of firearms, 6 agricultural equipment, 21 vehicles, 15 other properties were damaged or destroyed, and 4 gardens were set on fire.
