On September 15, Defense Minister Suren Papikyan received Toivo Klaar, the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and Georgia crisis.
“I presented the situation created as a result of the large-scale aggression of Azerbaijan against the sovereign territory of Armenia on September 13. I have emphasized that the large-scale aggression is a pre-planned Azerbaijani provocation. In terms of the resolution of the situation, I emphasized the need for evaluations addressed to the international community, including the EU, to the aggression that took place,” the statement of the RA MFA Suren Papikyan reads.
In his speech, the EU special representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia presented the EU’s position on the immediate cessation of hostilities, stressing the need to resolve all existing disagreements exclusively with diplomatic instruments.
Toivo Klaar also reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to contribute to the restoration of the negotiation process between the parties and the reaching of agreements.
