Vice-Chairman of the National Assembly, head of the Armenian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Ruben Rubinyan, and members of the delegation met today with the Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Bjørn Berge.
Welcoming the guest, Ruben Rubinyan appreciated the cooperation with the Council of Europe and the structure’s support for the process of democratic reforms in Armenia.
Expressing gratitude for the reception, the Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe emphasized the high level of RA-CE interaction.
Regional issues were also discussed during the meeting.
The Armenian parliamentarians drew the guest’s attention to the blockade of the Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan for more than two months and the resulting humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh.
Reference was made to the 2023-2026 action plan of the Council of Europe for Armenia.
Thoughts were also exchanged on the process of normalization of Armenia-Turkey relations.
The parties reaffirmed their commitment to continue effective cooperation in a number of directions.
