The Ambassador of the Netherlands to Armenia, Nico Schermers, welcomed the establishment of the EU civilian mission in Armenia.
“The mission of the European Union is in Armenia. The decision was officially confirmed by EU foreign ministers in Brussels. Today, the main headquarters of the monitoring mission was officially opened in Yeghegnadzor, Armenia. The Netherlands is proud to contribute to this issue,” the ambassador wrote on Twitter.
It should be reminded that on January 23, the EU Council reached an agreement on creating a European Union civilian mission in Armenia.
The mission started its work today. Among the exclusively civilian staff of the EU mission in Armenia are 100 people, including about 50 unarmed observers. The operational headquarters of the mission will be located in Yeghegnadzor, Vayots Dzor, RA.
