As of 00:50 on August 17, search and rescue operations are ongoing in the area of the “Surmalu” shopping center. The fire was contained at 2:38 p.m. on August 16 and pulled out at 5:49 p.m. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the area of firefighting and rescue operations is about 1 ha. The three-story building has (about 2889 square meters) collapsed.
62 citizens applied to medical centers in Yerevan city, 7 of them continue to receive treatment, and the rest received appropriate medical care and were discharged.
Earlier on August 14, at 1:23 p.m., the National Crisis Management Center was alerted that an explosion and fire occurred in the “Surmalu” shopping center located at 15 Arshakunyats Street in Yerevan, as a result of which the three-story building partially collapsed.
As a result of the calls received to the 911 hotline of the MES, the following citizens can be considered missing in the territory of the “Surmalu” shopping center:
1. Gagik Karapetyan
2. Vanik Amirkhanyan.
