Armenian FM is on a working visit to the United States
On May Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan left for the United States on a working visit. Mirzoyan held a meeting with the Director of USAID Samantha Power. The interlocutors commended the consistent development of the Armenian-US relations based on common democratic values.
Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized USAID’s support in the reform initiatives of the Government of Armenia in a number of spheres, particularly in the fight against corruption, judiciary and patrol police. Reference was also made to the innovative, sustainable development programs implemented by USAID in Armenia within the framework of Armenia-US cooperation aimed at promoting democratic development, economic growth, and strengthening energy security, as well as implementing reforms in the social spheres in the country. The sides also discussed the perspectives of expanding the cooperation and implementing new joint programs.
During the meeting, Minister Mirzoyan presented to the interlocutor the humanitarian issues resulting from the 44-day war. In this context, the need for the repatriation of Armenian prisoners of war and civilians held by Azerbaijan was especially emphasized.

Çavuşoğlu on the demonstration of the “gray wolves” sign to the Armenian community in Uruguay
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu touched upon the demonstration of the sign of the radical nationalist organization “gray wolves” to representatives of the Armenian community of Uruguay on the eve of April 24. According to Turkish media, Çavuşoğlu noted that Ankara has no problems with Uruguay. He said they were supposed to lay a wreath at the monument, but the Uruguayan authorities urged not to do so.
“The Uruguayan authorities said that they would be grateful if, in case of a possible protest, we cancel the wreath-laying stage, we canceled it. During the opening of our building, they assured our ambassador that this group will not be allowed to approach. It was wrong to bring that group there, even though they promised. The demonstrators behaved badly. After that ugly attitude, we gave the necessary answer,” Turkish FM said.
At the meeting of the Special Representatives of Armenia and Turkey, various steps to be taken in the near future will be discussed, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said, Hurriyet reports. He hinted that an agreement has been reached on the delimitation of the border between Armenia and Turkey. In addition, Çavuşoğlu recalled the agreements on the establishment of a joint commission on the delimitation of borders between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
“An agreement was reached on the issue of re-demarcation of the borders. How will that be done? Will a joint commission be created? It was decided to establish such a commission with Azerbaijan,” Çavuşoğlu said.
Opposition closes various streets in Yerevan
Since this morning, the opposition has been blocking various streets in Yerevan. Ishkhan Saghatelyan told reporters that there are cases of violence, including against MPs. Saghatelyan said that the protests will continue throughout the day. “At 18:00 we will gather at the France Square.”
As of 14:00, 244 people were detained, RA Police reports.
