The President of the European Council Charles Michel reffered to the statements of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. In particular he said.

″It is important to avoid expressing very aggressive rhetoric. Tomorrow I will have also a meeting with the President of Azerbaijan, and I will try to see which role can be played by the European Union, in order to provide our expertise. The history of European Union is also based on conflicts in  the past. But after those conflicts we were able to make progress step by step in order to build this unique political project based on mutual respect, based on more cooperation. I do not underestimate the difficulties. There will be obstacles, but I think the first thing is to try to have a better mutual understanding and to see how we can try to find some possible solutions.″
