As of 05:19 on August 16, firefighting, search and rescue operations are ongoing.

As a result of search and rescue operations, the bodies of 15 citizens were found (Misak Margaryan, born in 1964, Anahit Mkhitaryan, born in 1967, Jemma Nazaryan, born in 1960, Anahit Khalatyan, Vardan Kocharyan, born in 1960 and Gayane Avetisyan, born in 1966 and the body of nine unidentified citizens). Among those 15 victims there is one young child and a pregnant woman, the Ministry of Emergency Situation reports.

According to the information, 60 citizens applied to medical centers in Yerevan city, 12 of them continue receiving treatment, and the remaining 48, having received appropriate medical care, were discharged.

Earlier on August 14, at 1:23 p.m., the National Crisis Management Center was alerted that an explosion and fire occurred in the “Surmalu” shopping center located at 15 Arshakunyats Street in Yerevan, as a result of which the three-story building partially collapsed.
