Trilateral meeting between Nikol Pashinyan, Charles Michel, Ilham Aliyev takes place in Brussels
The implementation of the trilateral statements from November 9, 2020, January 11, 2021, and November 26, 2021 were discussed during the trilateral meeting. Pashinyan noted the importance of the full implementation of the statements, in particular, stressing the need for immediate resolution of humanitarian problems, ensuring the return of POWs, hostages and other detainees. The work on the opening of regional communications was touched upon.

President Michel commended steps taken by both leaders to ensure the de-escalation of tensions following recent armed clashes along the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan. In particular, the successful establishment of a direct communication link between the Ministers of Defence of both countries, facilitated by President Michel, was acknowledged. This mechanism can serve to prevent future incidents and make a positive impact by helping de-escalate tensions on the ground.

Nikol Pashinyan meets with Maia Sandu – the sides highlight development of economic relations between Armenia and Moldova
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with President of Moldova Maia Sandu within the framework of the Eastern Partnership summit in Brussels. The President of Moldova stressed that her country is interested in deepening and strengthening relations with Armenia. Maia Sandu noted the need to give a new impetus to the cooperation in economic and investments spheres. In this regard, the latter considered it necessary to hold a business forum, which will contribute to the establishment of new contacts between businessmen and the implementation of joint investment programs. The President of Moldova also highlighted the development of cooperation and exchange of experience in the process of institutional reforms, including reforms in the spheres of justice, fight against corruption and human rights.

Prime Ministers of Armenia and Slovenia discuss issues related to Armenia-EU relations, as well as Armenian-Slovenian cooperation
In the sidelines of the Eastern Partnership Summit in Brussels, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with Janez Janša, Prime Minister of Slovenia, a country that currently holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The interlocutors touched upon the agenda of the Eastern Partnership summit, the developments in the South Caucasus, as well as the results of the trilateral meeting between the Prime Minister of Armenia, the President of the European Council and the President of Azerbaijan in Brussels.

In previous months Armenia was objecting the opening of the highway. But now we managed to persuade them that it’s inevitable and they also agreed on that. So, there is understanding. Now we discussed the legal regime of these corridors. Zangezur Corridor which will go through Azerbaijan to Armenia and further down to Nakhichevan – the legal regime. Here we have certain issues still open. But I think both countries recognize that this must happen. By the way, during the trilateral meeting in Sochi last month held by President Putin, we adopted a Declaration which really talks about opening of communications. So, it will happen. [Ilham Aliyev]
