On September 15 a bilateral meeting of the Secretaries of the Security Councils of Armenia and Russia Armen Grigoryan and Nikolay Patrushev took place in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, within the framework of a joint sitting of the Council of Foreign Ministers, the Council of Defense Ministers and the Secretaries of the Security Councils of CSTO.
According to the Office of the Security Council of Armenia, welcoming his Russian counterpart at the beginning of the meeting, Armen Grigoryan stressed that such a frequency of bilateral meetings indicates both the deepening of cooperation between the offices of the Security Councils of the two countries and the mutual interest in the development of relations between Armenia and Russia in the field of security.
Then the secretaries discussed the situation in the South Caucasus. In this context Armen Grigoryan presented the situation that has developed as a result of the invasion of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces on the territories of the Syunik and Gegharkunik regions of Armenia since May, stressing that any encroachment on the territory of Armenia is unacceptable, and Armenia is ready to start the process of demarcation and delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border as soon as possible.
Speaking about the possibility of establishing long-term peace in the region, Armen Grigoryan stressed that the Government of the Republic of Armenia has announced the “era of peace”, which will bring stability and peace to the South Caucasus region, attaching importance to the possibility of unblocking all infrastructures.
Nikolay Patrushev also stressed the importance of continuing work on the unblocking process, noting that it will make it possible to ensure stability and peace in the region.
Nikolay Patrushev, referring to the efforts to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, noted the importance of activating the process within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs.
